Long Swprd Bug?

I've noticed that you can't seem to crit an enemy in pvp from 3 squares with long sword. A buddy mentioned this is only possible in pvm, is this true?

Of course you can crit from 3 squares away in PVP. I often steal eks because of my longer range.

Problem often is this:

You enter the max range to crit so your char fires off a crit but by the time it gets to the enemy player he's out of range - so you miss :P

 

Usually when he's running away and you're running after.

So is it that you press the 'Alt' button before you left click on the enemy with you mouse button? Or would the right mouse button be preferable?
