timma 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2009 def. ratio doesnt reduce dmg. it increases your dex or def. ratio (makes you harder to get hit) 100% makes it so that when you have a shield equiped all attacks on you go through your shield. it helps save your sets, and if you have a nice pa shield it will then lower the damage you take.
